Itinerary:
Day 1
Arrival – Tel Aviv
We’ll greet you, pick you up from the Ben Gurion Airport, and escort you to your accommodations in Tel Aviv. Where you can take in the bustling nightlife in the seaside heart of modern Israel. Overnight in Tel Aviv.
Day 2
Jaffa – St. Peter’s Church – Megiddo – Jezreel Valley – Haifa – Bah’ai Gardens
In the morning you’ll stroll the quaint alleys and peruse the artistic shops of Old Jaffa, highlighted by St. Peter’s Church and the ancient port. Where the prophet Jonah boarded a ship to flee from God before being swallowed by a whale.
The next stop will be Megiddo. With its amazing underground water system and panoramic view of the Jezreel Valley. Where the New Testament tradition says the final battle of Armageddon will take place.
In the afternoon we’ll head to Mt. Carmel. Where Elijah challenged the prophets of Ba’al on the mountaintop. Then we’ll pass through Haifa to take in the beautiful Bah’ai Gardens before heading to your overnight accommodations. Either in a hotel in Jesus’ hometown of Nazareth or else in a kibbutz hotel.
Day 3
Nazareth – Cana – Tsippori – Mt. Tabor
After visiting Mary’s Well and the Basilica of the Annunciation you’ll take a short ride Cana. The site of Jesus first miracle, turning water into wine.
From there you’ll continue to Tsippori. The ancient Sepphoris. This Roman city was a home of the Sanhedrin where Rabbi Judah HaNasi edited the Mishna. It also features some of the most beautiful mosaics in Israel.
You’ll finish the afternoon with a stop atop Mt. Tabor. Featuring its stunning view and two magnificent churches commemorating the transfiguration of Jesus that tradition associates with this place. Then back to your Nazareth hotel or kibbutz hotel.
Day 4
Sea of Galilee – Tabgha – Mt. of Beatitudes – Jerusalem
On the fourth day you’ll get to know the Sea of Galilee. Beginning with Capernaum with its ancient synagogue and Jewish town. Where St. Peter’s mother-in-law was healed by Jesus.
Then you’ll continue on to Tabgha. The traditional site of Jesus’ multiplication of the loaves and fishes to feed the multitude of his followers. Leaving the seaside you’ll head up the hill to the Mt. of Beatitudes. Where Jesus’ gave his famous sermon of blessings.
In the afternoon you’ll take a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee before stopping by the famous Yardenit baptismal site where the lake spills southward into the Jordan River.
Dinner will be at your hotel in Jerusalem.
Day 5
Jerusalem
You’ll begin the day on the Mount of Olives with its stunning overview of Jerusalem and then take a short stroll down to the Garden of Gethsemane with its ancient olive trees where Jesus was arrested prior to his crucifixion.
The remainder of the day will be spent in the labyrinthine shops and alleyways of the Old City. Visiting the Western Wall and/or Church of the Holy Sepulchre are also options, and frankly, the possibilities of things to do and the variety of things to see on this day are too numerous to list, but suffice it to say that Jerusalem typically leaves an indelible impression on her visitors. Overnight in your Jerusalem hotel.
Day 6 –
Jerusalem : Israel Museum – Yad Vashem – Ein Karem – Mahane Yehuda market
More Jerusalem, but this time visiting the more modern portion of the city including the unforgettable Israel Museum, the moving Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial, Ein Karem – the quaint village John the Baptist came from – and the colorful and raucous Mahane Yehuda market.
You’ll also visit the menorah in front of the Knesset, Israel’s parliament. Overnight in your Jerusalem hotel.
Day 7
Dead Sea – Masada – Timna Park – crossing into Jordan – Aqaba
You’ll head south to the southern end of the Dead Sea and ride up the cable car to visit the legendary desert fortress of Masada. Afterwards you’ll continue on to the breathtaking Timna Park in southern Israel and take in its scenic grandeur before crossing into Jordan and arriving at your hotel in Aqaba in time for dinner.
Day 8
Jordan Tour: Wadi Rum – Petra
Early in the morning you’ll board a 4×4 vehicle and drive through the lunar landscape of Wadi Rum for 2 hours before continuing on to the legendary city of Petra for the remainder of the day. Dinner will be in your hotel on the Jordanian shore of the Dead Sea.
Day 9
Mt. Nebo – cross back into Israel – Jerusalem
Pamper yourself in the Dead Sea facilities in the morning until check out time, then head north to Mt. Nebo where Moses looked out over the land of Canaan. Then you’ll cross back into Israel around noon and head back to enjoy Jerusalem to enjoy the nightlife on your final evening before retiring to your hotel.
Day 10
Departure
Pick up from your hotel and transportation back to Ben Gurion Airport. This is the end of the Israel & Jordan Tour
